Therapy for children, 8 to 11
Children can struggle with behavior and emotion regulation, school, anxiety, self-confidence, and depression. Therapy gives them a safe space to learn regulation skills and coping strategies.
What we work on
- Behavior and emotion regulation
- Anxiety and stress
- Low mood, self-esteem, and self-confidence
- Grief and loss
- ADHD, focus, organization, and school stress
- Friendships, conflict at home, and family changes
Support for parents
I can also help parents use parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT) techniques to better support their child at home.
How parents are part of it
Children do best when they can speak freely, and parents need to know their child is safe. We agree on how that works before we start.
- Consent. I require written consent from a parent or legal guardian for anyone under 18. If parents are separated or divorced, I'll ask for the part of the parenting plan that covers health care decisions.
- The first appointment. A parent joins, so we can hear everyone's view and set goals together.
- What stays private. The details of what your child shares in session stay between us.
- What parents will hear. Serious safety concerns, suspected abuse, and anything that puts your child in danger. You can also get general updates on attendance and progress.
- Parent sessions. Some weeks, I may meet with a parent alone to work on what's happening at home.
Sessions and scheduling
Sessions are by secure video. Your child joins from somewhere private, and a parent needs to be reachable by phone during every session. After-school times are available.
Parents usually reach out first. Use your own name and contact details, and we'll go from there.
